9 Things To Do As a Bored QuaranTeen

If social distancing has taught me anything, it's probably that time moves impossibly slow when you're bored at home. I think I speak for most of us when I say that laziness comes more naturally these days. So, I've decided to compile a list of 9 things YOU can do as a bored quaranteen to help pass the time and maybe even make yourself feel more productive!

1. Do a photoshoot!

If you think your Instagram page is lacking, this is the perfect time to snap some new selfies and get creative with your posts! Embrace your inner explorer and find some cool spots in or around the house to use as interesting backgrounds. Of course, if you don't think these backgrounds are "IG-worthy," you can set up your own DIY backdrop by hanging up a flat white sheet or even taping some wrapping paper to the wall! Have fun dressing up, and I say, put that dusty prom dress in the back of your closet to some good use!

2. Learn some cooking recipes!

If you're a college student like me, cereal and ramen make up almost the entirety of your diet. Take this time to learn some cooking and/or baking recipes that are sure to wow your friends! Even if you opt not to learn the more extravagant of recipes, this is still a great opportunity to learn how to make some basic meals like pasta, or maybe even an omelet. I know Cooking Mama would surely approve!

3. Binge-watch a new show!

When you have nothing to do, turning on Netflix or Hulu are surefire ways to pass the time. So go on and get started on that one show/series you've always said you never had the time to watch. And if binge-watching alone isn't your thing, you can spice things up by joining a watch-party or even hosting your own zoom watch-party with friends!

4. Play some family board games!

If I've learned anything in life, it's that nothing says family bonding like board game banter. Some of my favorite family board games include Monopoly, Exploding Kittens, and Heads Up! If you don't own board games at home, card games can also be a fun alternative. Old Maid and Spoons always get my family riled up!

5. Do a bedroom makeover!

If you're going to be stuck in your room all day, you might as well make the most of it right? So why not clear out that junk that just sits in the corner and do some reorganizing. You're probably tired of seeing the same-old anyways so moving things around will surely be a nice change of pace. I'm sure your bedroom will be Pinterest goals in no time!

6. Start a YouTube channel!

If you're anything like me, being a famous YouTuber is something you've always dreamed about being but never actually considered. With practically everyone on the internet, what better time to rise to online stardom than now!

7. Get a new look!

What better flex on your friends than a "new-you" once this is all over! But be sure to focus on what makes YOU feel more empowered! So cut those bangs and bleach your hair like you've wanted always to do, and if a summer body's what you want, go for it! (I suggest the infamous Chloe Ting workout!) Of course the glow-up doesn't have to be just physical either. You can change up those bad habits and start new, healthier ones! For me, adding yoga to my morning routine and writing a journal entry everyday have been the lifestyle changes I didn't know I needed!

8. Learn a new language!

If there's any new skills you want to take away from being a quaranteen, language skills will likely prove to be the most useful. You can start by first learning how to introduce yourself and then how to engage in basic conversations. After that, learning a few common words and phrases each day will make you a language genius in no time! Just imagine how impressed people will be to discover that you've suddenly become fluent in a language you could hardly converse in before!

9. Just get creative!

As a quaranteen, this is a prime opportunity for you to really explore your interests and hobbies. Why not try writing a song or doing some journaling? What about sketching or scrapbooking? Maybe start a rock or coin collection. Just follow where your interests lead you. Who knows, you might just end up liking it.
